Day One, Interbike 2010

No Recession Evident here in Las Vegas

I just finished my first walk through the exhibit hall and it looks like its packed. Most of the dining tables available last year have been removed to make room for more exhibitors.

My first pass through the exhibit hall always is on the periphery to see what small, new companies are bringing to market. The first fun thing that caught my eye was a
“heads up’ display for cyclist.s.

The company is 4iiii and you can find them at http://www.4iiii.com/. The system uses ANT+ technology and works with almost any type of glasses. I t provides hear rate, power, cadence, and speed. This could be really useful in track training and competition.

The unit retails for $149.00.

Version 1.5 Coming by July 15th

Great things are happening with the MyBikeInfo application!

New Functions:
We’ve been listening to our users and here are some of the functions coming when Version 1.5 is released in two weeks (this is a free update for existing users):

Cycling-related (fun stuff):

  • Mileage tracking
  • Elevation tracking
  • Power training tracking
  • Average heart rate tracking
Health-related (interesting stuff):

  • Blood pressure
  • Cholesterol
  • PSA (prostate specific antigen)
Trend Graphing
All of these metrics come with built-in a build-in trend line function. Once you enter at least two data points, the graphing function will show your trend. For example, is your maximum power output increasing?

Advertisers/Sponsors
Primal Clothing (Primal Wear) is our newest sponsor on MyBikeinfo. Remember that all proceeds from MyBikeInfo sales go to the Prostate Cancer Awareness Project (29000Men.org) to create bicycling-based prostate cancer awareness events. Primal will donate $7.50 for each 29000Men clothing item sold through the 29000Men website.

Olympic Updates within MyBikeInfo

Hello Everyone. We are updating the sponsor screens and the RSS feeds in MyBikeInfo to pull information directly from NBC Sports and the Vancouver Olympic website. We should have this done by tomorrow so you can get your Olympic updates right from MyBikeInfo.

Best regards,

Entering Cassette and Chainring Information

Several users have requested that we add fields to record the cassette and chainring setups. The good news is that functionality is already available in the current version of MyBikeInfo for the chainrings. To record your chainring information, simply go to the chainring field at the Drivetrain tab, Chain rings. The field is a text field so you can enter as much information as you like, i.e., Shimano Dura Ace, 50, 34, or another if you use a triple. For the cassette,

Next Development Beginning

We’re just about to begin coding the next version of MyBikeInfo. We are including mileage, vertical climb, and power tracking; each function with graphing capability. Send us a note if there is something you would like added to this version and we’ll see if we can squeeze it in. We’ve also added a special new mystery functionality. A shiny new iPod Touch to the first person that can guess what it is.
